About the Brand
Violet Botanical Skincare
Violet Botanical Skincare was founded in 2014 by Robbin Turner, M.Ed., in Culver City, California, after she refused to accept steroid creams as the only answer to her family's eczema. Drawing on the herbal traditions of her grandmother and generations of African botanical knowledge, Robbin created her first batch of body butter in her kitchen using shea butter, nutrient-rich oils, and essential oils she could trust. The line has grown to include body butters, body oils, body wash, and bath salts, all formulated with organic and wild-harvested ingredients sourced from across Africa, including Nilotica shea from Uganda, marula oil from Botswana, and mongongo oil from Zambia. Violet sources ingredients from women's cooperatives in rural southern Africa, putting economic power directly in the hands of the communities the brand draws from. Every formula is cruelty-free, plant-based, and built on the principle that fewer, better ingredients let skin heal and thrive on its own terms.
